And then he munched my wooden needle.

There’s been a rash of feline destruction Chez Blue Garter of late. My camera lacks the ability to really zoom in on the wanton damage here, but you can observe that the right tip of the needle that’s horizontal is, well, completely gone. I left the furry little hoodlum apparently snoozing beside my booties for exactly the amount of time it took me to walk to the kitchen and rinse a peach. Fifteen seconds, perhaps? Since I already lost the fifth needle of this set, that’s effectively the end of their useful lives. I was able to limp through the remaining rounds of booty cuff by slipping the stitches off the back of the wounded needle to the free one each time, but I’m not likely to cast on for a new project knowing I’ll have to do this every round. Darn it, Mingus, I really liked these Brittany Birches, and they were my only set of #2s. Send a cat muzzle…or metal needles.

Take from one who has tons of wounded needles in the battle of knitting in a cat house, metal needles get wounds too.

Bunches of metal needles and cirulars with teeth grooves, I’ve tried sand paper, but that takes the finish off.

    I feel for ya.

Sheesh…remind me to thank my cat for not gnawing on my needles. Or playing in the yarn. Wow–he’s really quite well behaved. My kitty ROCKS.

    Where was I?

My dog chewed my needles once so I replaced the entire set and now I have extras. It was frustrating though. Isn’t it amazing what they can accomplish in 15 seconds. But not if you want them to do it! Sort of like children. The booties look great!

my sympathies. so far, the only thing jimi goes for is my roving to spin! i’ve had to rescue more roving in the last week, than i have yarn in the last year! and yes, metal needles bite the big one too. my daughter used my size 3’s as a lock pick when her brothers locked her out of the bathroom. and bent the tip. sigh.
