Missive #1

Published on Tuesday May 25th, 2010

Dear Minnow,

The cat (he’s the one that usually stomps on you twice daily in his enthusiasm to say goodnight or goodmorning with a headbutt to my face), when he is in an impish mood, sometimes has a fight with the bathmat. He wrestles and bites it and pummels the stuffing out of it with his hind legs. Every now and then it feels as though you are doing something similar to my bladder. (Probably not the biting; I know you don’t have any teeth.) Kindly ease up there.

Thanks,

your mother

Our buntcake is starting to do something similar, although in general tends to shy away from the bladder area. Maybe as she/he grows, though I’ll be wishing for cease and desist. My friend Katharine says that soon they’ll be up in our rib cage kicking away, not sure which is worse, really. Although overall it is GOOD that a baby kicks too much–sign of a strong little munchkin.

Oh yes the “mommy’s bladder is my new toy” time. Gotta love it!

    Oh I soooo remember that!

And hey, you wanted non boozy drinks? For dinner tonight, we took some Bacardi pina colada mix (easier than cutting up the coconut and pineapple – that can from the freezer section) and mixed it with milk, ice and 3 extra bananas (for a more natural flavor!)

No booze, and a really happy family for dinner on a hot day.

I also gave them cheese sticks and carrots. Well balanced.

Ha! That sounds very familiar 🙂 I often felt like Sam was trying to stretch his legs out in utero.

Been there, done that, got the stretchmarks…

When I was pregnant, I started a little diary for “Dear peanut”. Doesn’t it feel undescribable to write “your mother” for the first time…? I remember I cried… but you can always blame it on hormones, right?

My own little bun just landed her first solid kick on my bladder. Ouch! Luckily she’s been aiming more for my belly button since then. You’re getting close, Sarah!
