How to stop thinking
Published on Friday May 9th, 2008
1. Pull out all your quilt strips. It’s helpful if you didn’t put them away in perfect order last time.
2. Don’t look at the pictures you took before.
3. Lay out the strips more or less the way you remember them looking.
4. Make a few radical changes of the background strips.
5. Break out the scissors and start cutting. Don’t give yourself the chance to fuss.
6. Sew.
Then you can think about something else, like a) cutting up all the new fabric you just bought for your next quilt, or b) how nice the tulips that have survived the marauding puppy are looking:

I have to say that I never though that I would have the desire to start quilting, but you and your links just may have provided the fodder to push me over “to the dark side.” Like I need another crafting venture… sigh.
It’s looking gorgeous!

Your quilt and tulips remind me very much of Yarnstorm. I think all of the flowers we’re seeing this time of year are so inspirational, and it’s interesting to see how everyone interprets that differently in their crafts.
I’m looking forward to seeing your new sewing projects! Can you quilt during the Giro tomorrow?

The quilt is great. I love how the colors and patterns remind me of spring without being ostentatious about it.

Perfect! No stress sewing! That’s how I quilt. Looks great!

The quilt looks great! I love the way you balanced the floral prints with the stripe construction.
Ah–tulips. We had those in the Midwest, where it wasn’t the puppies but the squirrels who marauded. Desert flowers are pretty in a brazen sort of way, but do I miss the daintiness of wet-weather plants.

I love that quilt! Usually I find quilts too old fashioned for my taste, but yours is really modern and unfussy! Looks amazing.
